Meme Generator
Make memes online free with a full editor: pick a popular template or upload any image, add draggable caption boxes, classic Impact text, custom fonts, colors and outlines. 100% private — nothing is uploaded.
🔒 Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploadedA full meme editor, right in your browser
This meme generator gives you a complete editor like the popular online makers, but everything runs locally on your device. Start from one of about 100 popular meme templates — Woman Yelling At Cat is loaded by default — upload any image of your own, or start from a solid or gradient background, then add as many draggable caption boxes as you want. Each box uses the classic bold Impact look with a white fill and black outline by default, and you can restyle any of them independently.
Click and drag a caption to position it exactly where you want, then fine-tune the font family, size, text color, outline color and outline thickness. Toggle ALL CAPS, bold and italic, change alignment, and the live preview updates instantly. When you are happy, export a crisp PNG or a lighter JPG rendered at your image's full resolution — ready to post anywhere.
Private by design — nothing is uploaded
Unlike most meme makers, this tool never sends your image to a server. The picture is decoded and drawn onto an HTML canvas in your browser, and the finished meme is generated on your device. That means it is fast, works offline once loaded, and keeps personal photos and screenshots completely private. There is no signup, no watermark and no upload queue.
Tips for great memes
Keep captions short and punchy so they read at a glance. The classic format puts the setup on top and the punchline on the bottom, but you can add extra boxes for labels, speech or watermarks. Use a thicker outline on busy images so the white text stays readable, and switch the text color when a background is light. Because everything is local, you can iterate as many times as you like without re-uploading anything.
Fonts, files and limits
Six font families are offered: Impact, Arial, Comic Sans MS, Times New Roman, Verdana and Courier New. They are taken from the fonts installed on your device, so on a system without one of them the browser substitutes another and the text can look different from what you expect. The exported image is rendered from the same canvas as the preview, so check the preview carefully before you download.
Choose PNG when the meme contains flat colors and sharp lettering, because it is lossless. Choose JPG when you want a smaller file for a photo-heavy image; its compression can leave slight fuzz around the outlines of text. Caption sizes are stored relative to the image, so they scale with the picture, and each box can also be moved again after you change its text. The quick-start backgrounds are handy for text-only memes, announcements and title cards where no photo is needed.
